Dental implants are artificial roots that are designed to replace missing teeth. A dental implant, which is made of Titanium, fuses to the natural bone after it is placed.
Implants are placed in two stages; the first stage involves placing the artificial titanium implant into position. After a period of anywhere from 1-6 months of healing, a porcelain crown is placed over the top of the implant. Dental implants can also be used to secure complete or partial dentures into position, thereby improving denture stability.
Implants require proper brushing and flossing and are monitored at regular check-ups.
